Lophophora williamsii v. caespitosa

Lophophora Williamsii Var. Caespitosa Cactus comes from the region of La Perdida, Mexico. It is a variety of Lophophora that grows in a cluster with multiple heads. It is a button-like, spineless cactus. It has a dark green or light green colour. It grows in an area that stretches from from the Chihuahuan Desert to the South Texas Plains, on either side of the middle and lower Rio Grande River, Southward. “Caespitosa” means “densely-clumped”, it refers to the dense tufts of stems.

In the wild habitat solitary and clumping plants are both present and It is not a rare event to find a caespitose seedling in the seedling tray among the more common single headed plants. Some caespitose produce dozens of very small shoots each of them never reach the dimension of a flowering plant. Others have bigger heads and can produce flowers and seeds.
